Thanksgiving 2K10

Yes, yes..I realize that it is over halfway through January and Thanksgiving is long over and no one cares about it anymore. But I am going to post about our Thanksgiving anyhow. I feel like one of those people who still have pumpkins out on their porch (we don’t have pumpkins on our porch fyi… and it really bugs me to see houses that do- that’s really cool that your pumpkins haven’t rotted yet and all…but its January; loose the gourds already!!). But, I really want to have something to look back on next Thanksgiving and years after to remember the details of THIS Thanksgiving. So, don’t feel obligated to read…but here goes-

At the beginningish of November, Tiny Princess got sick sick. It was pitiful and seemed to last forever. She had pink eye in both of her eyes, an ear infection, and croup. Yes, pitiful

She was starting to get better when Brian got sick. He was sick for about a week before I started to get sick too. After another week we decided we better go see the doc, since we would be traveling to Dallas for Thanksgiving and would be around a lot of family who would not want our illnesses. Brian’s diagnosis was severe strep throat and I had early strep and bronchitis. I know, we were pretty yucky. But we got some meds from the doc and were told we would be un-contagious in a few days! Yay! (Anyone who knows me well knows that I hate when people spread their germs by being inconsiderate, and thus I make every attempt to keep my germs to myself. I don’t like being contagious anymore than I like being around you when you are!) It was two days before we left for Dallas so I thought everything was great. We both started feeling better pretty quickly. On Wednesday morning (the day we left for Dallas) I woke up and couldn’t open my eyes. Ugh. Pink eye. Today? Not cool. So we squeezed in a trip to the eye doctor before heading out. All this to say, between our coughs, runny noses, and gooey eyes (just me at this point) we were not the best Thanksgiving guests! I even “blew” out my birthday candles with a napkin so I didn’t blow sickies all over the cake!

Despite the sickies, we all had a wonderful time in Dallas! And to my knowledge, we did not spread said sickies to anyone else! :)

Tatum had lots of fun playing with her Muncle Jerms and Aunt Katie (who brought her toy replicas of themselves!)

She also spent a good deal of time on Nonnie's stairs

We all usually 'run' the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. I put run in quotations because Brian and Kenny run the 8 mile (yes, I agree, insane) and the rest of us walk the 3 mile. However, this year was super cold and rather wet, plus most of us were sick ( I forgot to mention that Sharon and Kenny also caught the sickies at some point in Lubbock pre-Dallas), so we decided to opt out and participate in the First Annual Allen Turkey Trot instead. Tatum won the race and I was a close second (I was pushing her stroller...) Jeremy lost by like 45 minutes. Just sayin..

The day after Thanksgiving, Brian took me on an AMAZING birthday date to a fancy-shmancy movie theater (they called it a cinema). We sat in recliners and had blankets and pillows and some scrumptious food. And saw one of the most awesome movies in the world- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-pt 1. Unfortunately, we have no pictures of that because we left the camera at Nonnies. While we were on our date, Nana and Papaw watched sweet Tatum. They took her to the park down the street and had lots of fun. Nana told me that Tatum kept pressing the side of the duck rocky-thing trying to make it play music like her ride-on toys at home do. Papaw ended up singing while she rode the duck. haha!

That evening, we all (Me, Brian, Tater Tot, Nonnie, Nana, Papaw, Rod, Caroline, and Mia- Jeremy and Katie were with her parents) went to a shopping center to look at their tree and lights. Tatum also sat on Santa's lap for the first time. She really enjoyed the lights. And I really enjoyed her enjoying the lights! My favorite way to see them was through the reflection in her eyes :) Her reactions to exciting things has become the best part of exciting things for me!

The next day, the Harris family (Katie's mom and dad) and Jeremy and Katie came over to Nonnie's for an amazing barbeque lunch.

Muncle and Katie also gave Princess her birthday gifts since they would not get to see her again before the big day.

Like I said- LOTS of fun. I enjoy spending Thanksgiving in Dallas so much! I love all of Brian's family's traditions and fun. Plus, the fam is alright too :) Thanks for putting up with our germs and sharing a wonderful Thanksgiving full of memories with us Nonnie, Aunt Anne, Rod, Caroline, Mia, Muncle, Katie,, Nana, and Papaw! We love you all!

And yes, a Christmas post is next! HA!
